10 Springbok Rugby legends including Joel Stransky, Marius Hurter, Craig Jamieson and John Slade will be participating in South Africa’s most challenging cycling event, the Subaru Sani2c mountain bike race from the 3rd to the 5th of March. This thanks to the generous sponsorship from event sponsors BoE Private Clients - many of BoE Private Clients’ staff and clients will also be participating in this gruelling KZN race.
A top private wealth manager has put its weight behind one of the most challenging cycling events in South Africa, the Sani2C mountain race which links the Drakensberg to the Indian Ocean via a grueling track next week.
Over 85 BoE Private Clients’ staff and clients will test their mettle when they peddle the grueling 250 kilometer challenge along with a team of 10 of SA’s Rugby Legends who are joining the tough adventure race thanks to sponsorship from the brand.
The Rugby Legends include Joel Stransky and Marius Hurter who were both part of the ’95 World Cup winning Springbok team, Craig Jamieson, the first Natal Captain to lift the Currie Cup in the 90’s as well as a number of Sharks’ players such as Dylan Jackson, Trevor and Greg Halstead, John Slade, Henry Coxwell and Adrian Garvey.
The Rugby Legends, all of them former Springbok and Provincial rugby players, are cycling to raise awareness for their newly formed charitable trust. The trust was established as part of their Celebrate Life campaign to help sports personalities fight dread diseases.
Voted as South Africa’s top mountain bike race, the annual Sani2C links the Drakensberg to the Indian Ocean via a demanding mountain route. Starting in the southern Drakensberg region on March 3, the winding and challenging course ends at the coast - 3 days later.
Brett Lambert, Head of the BoE Private Clients office in Durban, himself an avid mountain biker and participant in this year’s race, says the group was delighted that there was so much interest from staff, clients as well as seasoned sports heroes in participating in this challenging event.
“It will be fantastic to see a swathe of BoE Private Clients’ corporate colors emblazoned on the mountain pass as the cyclists come through each day. Cycling combines so many of the elements that are important in wealth creation especially in the entrepreneurial space – including courage and drive, vision, ambition, hard work and team trust.
“The Sani2C is a great fit for BoE Private Clients as it is an event that promotes charity, tourism and conservation in the area.
“The event channels major benefits through to the local communities which are very involved in protecting the natural assets of the area. The race also raises funds for local education in various conservation and tourism issues. Philanthropy is core competency of BoE Private Clients’ business. Its dedicated philanthropy division assists High Net Worth individuals to create tax effective financial vehicles such as charitable trusts through which to ‘give back’ to the less fortunate.”
