Compendium CycleLab MTB Derby - Track Review

E-mail Print PDF
I had the privilege of trial riding the 20km track cut for next weekend's Compendium CycleLab MTB Derby. WOW, what fun. The first 8km are SUPER FAST, even the first long climb is an easy gradient, and after that, only 3 short 50m hills. For people like Rowan Jones and myself, who haven't been on the bike for a while, it was such a good "comeback" ride.

For the "Pro's" doing the 40km race, the first 30km are going to be a fast and furious. The first 20km are the same route as the 20km riders, then 10km down into Giba. The climb out will be the main test of stamina, other than that, it will be the fastest pace of the season.

The testing team on the 20km routeIt's going to be a great event for the whole family. To already have 600 pre-entries shows that MTBers are loving their weekend races, specially when they are close to home. And if you haven't been on the bike for a while like me, then the 20km is perfect for you.

The event will also make a substantial contribution to the Jes Foord Foundation on the day on behalf of the sponsors & riders
