My Way Dirt Festival - Saturday, 15th of August
Giba Gorge - 82 km
Myself and Shawna Thunder teamed up for the longest ever race hosted in Giba Gorge. The course was REALLY hard and challenging. We usually race a 80 km marathon in about 3hours 30 minutes, but this race took us over 5 hours 30 minutes!
We teamed up with the Jeep Ladies (Robyn Adendorf and Sarah van Heerden). We were the only ladies team there, so decided to have a ride together. It was great fun.
They made us do a 41 km loop twice. By the time we had to do the 2nd lap, we all lost a bit of heart, but decided to push through. The course itself was brilliant... any mountain biker’s dream. Lots and lots of single track with challenging up hills and switch backs. I must admit, my TREK FUEL 9.9 SSL, was perfect for that type of terrain. We had to come down Cucumber hill twice, and Shawna definitely showed us how it should be done. Riding out of Giba is no challenge anymore?..try and do it 4 times on one day!
We finished the ride together...very sore...but very proud....
